Hey guys, it has been a while hasn’t it? This 2020 although it has had loads of negative moments and ongoing negative events, it had given me the opportunity to explore different cafes that I have either always been interested in or discovered. Naturally I discovered that a hobby of mine is going out to cafes with my friends or either hunting down aesthetically pleasing ones. I shall now introduce to you all my favourite cafes I have come across this year. Sharing with you what I loved about the food & interior, ending it up with a score. I hope you enjoy and in the future are able to check out these places
The BigMoose

Hidden away off Cardiff’s Queen street but entirely worth seeking out, Bigmoose is a real treat. Whether you just want to grab a quick coffee or breakfast before heading out to lectures or need a relaxing place to work in. The ambience is amazing, and the foods and drinks are not only cheap but also very delicious. The staff are super friendly and most of the part time workers are university students too. I came to this café a lot during my 2nd year for Japanese society language exchange social and when I need a change of environment to work on course work. My go to drink is their mocha with almond milk especially in the winter season because it warms me up so much. The interior is pretty basic, white walls decorated with various plants and a neon light board too so also a great setting to take simple photos for the aesthetic

Saint Aymes

One of my all-time favourites since when they first opened, Saint Aymes a black owned café is located just off Hyde park. I have to say it is one of the most instagrammable cafes I have visited in my life in London. It could be described as a every blogger and pink lover enthusiasts dream with window framing flower walls and various flower walls inside. What I love about this place is not just their astonishing rose gold and copper walls and tiles but also their extensive outside seating surrounded by loads of beautiful white & various pink tone flowers. If you feel like having afternoon tea or a simple cute brunch, they offer both for you! When I first came in 2018, I ordered a mozzarella pesto panini with their special unicorn hot chocolate which was basically a sweet heaven!! This year, they have introduced serving special cocktails similarly named to other items on their menu. I would say my favourite cocktail I tried was there Pink unicorn. The pink unicorn was Raspberry gin and tonic poured on Cotton Candy cloud topped with 24ct gold. Seriously this place is pink heaven

Feya

Due to Covid-19 there was a change of plans on how I celebrated my 21st birthday. I decided to feed into my desire of visiting another aesthetically pleasing café in London. Feya Café is the creation of Chef Zahra Khan whom was a graduate of Gordon Ramsay’s Tante Marie Culinary Academy. Located in Knightsbridge, what grabbed my attention is how uniquely decorated it was with not just with the interior but with also how they design and plated their dishes and desserts. Inside the large space it is decorated with purple and green tones with, marble tables, giving it an enchanted forest vibe to it. In one part of the café in particularly there were the most amazing gold bird cage booths surrounded by wisteria and greenery that me and my friends had the pleasure to dine in. The food although it wasn’t especially up to my taste standards, they were very capturing for Instagram. I ordered their smoked salmon eggs benedict with emerald matcha latte. Till this moment I am still confused why my matcha tasted minty when mint wasn’t even mentioned on their menu and of course its matcha. However, this café was quite pricey in comparison to your average cafes which is no surprise since it is situated in the middle of central London. Thankfully we visited during the government Eat-Out scheme and therefore saved a lot of money. If I do plan to go again perhaps, I’ll try and give their sweet dishes a try.

WA

WA is a Japanese patisserie located in the heart of Covent Garden. They have skilled Japanese bakers and pâtissiers to produce a diverse range of Japanese desserts and breads on a daily basis. Although they don’t provide super traditional Japanese pastries, instead they offer typical western pastries and desserts with a Japanese influence. The café itself is brightly light with a modern setting which is quite different to normal cafes I visit. However, at the same time it felt homely and comfortable. I really wish I could have tried all the deserts they had to offer however for 1 it was roughly £4.50-6 depending if you’re eating in or taking out. Therefore, I ordered their raspberry mouse with an ice almond milk latte. Meanwhile, my friend ordered their mont blanc with ice matcha. The Raspberry mouse reminded me of why I love Japanese pastries so much!! The berries were sweet, and the mousse was light and creamy and surprisingly full filing. Enjoying the moose with an ice coffee was such an amazing combination to try out.
